FAQ’S PRE & POST PROCEDURE INFO

What is it?

Powdered brows are the newest and best way to fill in the brows, this method provides a more even coverage throughout the brows, leaving a soft dusty look throughout. Microblading is the artistic tattooing of individual hair strokes to give the illusion of real hair, thur creating fuller and more symmetrical eyebrows. Microblading is done with a hand tool. The other types of semi-permanent makeup done at our studio (powder ombre brows, lip stains, eyeliners) are done with a handheld machine. We use top-of-the-line machinery and pigments that create a very NATURAL, soft, and airy look that will eventually fade with time.

How long does it last?

Unretouched, the pigment will last 9-12 months depending on your skin. If you revisit our spa for regular touch-ups, the pigment will last as long as it is maintained. Your first touch up is included in the initial cost and is usually between 6-8 weeks after the first appointment.

Does it hurt?

We numb as you are being tattooed. You should feel comfortable.

What should I do before my appointment?

No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours prior to your appointment time. If you have a history of cold sores you must take Valtrex 5 days before and 5 days after treatment (including touch-ups).

What is the process like?

All of our micro-pigmentation is a two-step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch-up 4-6 weeks later. The second touch-up is a requirement after the first visit. A second touchup is a requirement 4 weeks after the initial treatment, and sometimes a third or fourth appointment may be necessary, depending on skin type. A ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture is taken for all of our clients. This picture is to keep track of all noticeable changes in the skin over time. It also is a great before and after to show your family and friends, as well as for my portfolio. We will work together on the design, color, shape, and size. Nothing is done without your approval!

During healing, it’s normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch-up in place. The healing process and aftercare will be discussed in full detail at your appointment as well as given to you to take home.

Permanent cosmetic procedures normally require multiple treatment sessions. For best results, clients will be required to return for at least one retouch procedure, usually between four and six weeks after the initial procedure. Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become lighter as the tissue heals. This process can take up to ten days.

Advice for all permanent cosmetic procedures
  • Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, it is advised not to make social plans for the same day.
  • Please wear no makeup on the day of the procedure.
  • Please inform your technician if you have taken aspirin, Ibuprofen, or Coumadin within the two days leading up to the procedure.
  • Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.
  • Do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment.
Eyebrow Procedures
  • Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the procedure:
  • Electrolysis no less than five days before the procedure.
  • Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for two weeks prior to the procedure.
  • Avoid chemical peels, retinol, and Retin-A within 1 week of the procedure.
No botox within 2 weeks PRIOR to treatment.
Eyeliner procedures
  • Do not wear contact lenses during or immediately following the procedure. Remember to bring your glasses. You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as your eyes feel comfortable. (This is normally 24 hours after the procedure).
Lip Stain
  • If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), we advise you to contact your doctor to obtain the proper prescription medication to prevent such outbreaks.
  • Alternatively, obtain herpes medication for example Zovirax from your local pharmacy. This can help minimize an outbreak.
  • Permanent cosmetic procedures do not cause cold sores, however, if you carry the virus, it lays dormant in the body and can be aroused by the procedure.
  • Lip wax or bleaching treatments should not be undertaken for at least a two-week period preceding your permanent cosmetic procedure.

Proper care following your procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of color is to be expected. This is the purpose of the re-touch visit. Please review the following directions and refer to them as necessary. If during the healing process, you have any questions or concerns, please contact us directly at 727-771-3895

It takes about 7-10 days for the brows to finish the skin turn over process of flaking up. The day of your appointment you will be slightly red and swollen, day 2 the eyebrows will be a shade or two darker than the pigment we selected as the pigment oxidizes when exposed to oxygen, days 3-7 the eyebrows continue to darken and will flake up and you will have very small scabs. Once all the scabs are gone (usually right around 8 days out), the brows will be lighter in color and softer.

Eyeliner:

You may experience the following for 48 hours:

Eyelashes may stick together, particularly overnight. Puffy eyelids. Tenderness. Redness or bruising around the eyes. Dryness and itchiness in the treated area. Swelling.

Do not expose the healing skin to direct sunlight, tanning beds, Jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams, or ointments instructed to use for two weeks following your procedure.

If the area gets wet, gently pat dry using a clean tissue. Remember, your selected color will be stronger and more sharply defined immediately after treatment but as the healing process occurs the color will soften and lighten.

Lip Stain:

For the first day: ice packs protected with a cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce

swelling. If you suffer from cold sores at present or at any time in the past use an anti-herpes medication for example Valtrex five days before & five days after.

Allow it to flake on its own. Remember, your selected color will be stronger and more sharply defined immediately after treatment but as the healing process occurs the color will soften and lighten.

What are they?

Eyelash Extensions will lengthen and thickens your own natural eyelashes. Lash Extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful, and luxurious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day-to-day wear. They do not need mascara or curling, the only maintenance they require are fills.

When should I get a fill?

ALWAYS WASH YOUR LASHES WITH SOAP AND WATER BEFORE A FILL!

Your fill must be within 18 days of your full set. A fill appointment is only an hour and 15 minutes long. Any less than 50% of lashes will require more appointment time as well as more supplies, thus becoming a full set again.

Will they damage my natural eyelashes?

NOPE! Absolutely not. This is because they are applied in a 1:1 ratio and therefore they will shed with the cycle of your natural eyelash growth. The weight and length of the extensions are customized to your natural eyelashes for optimal health.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Yes. The glue we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise, etc. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low.

How do I care for my lashes?

Do not get lashes wet for at LEAST 24 hours after application -this gives the glue time to cure

After 24 hours it is okay to shower and wash your face like normal, but avoid submerging the head completely underwater.

Note that activities such as hot yoga, sauna use, excessive exercise, and excessive steam can loosen the adhesive, causing premature lash shedding.

When drying the face/eye area it is important to use PATTING motions, rubbing can tug on the extensions and cause pain. Be cautious of cotton pads around the eyes, try to use lint-free material/cloths to avoid anything getting caught in the attachments of glue to lash.

Comb through the lashes every morning and night with a clean spoolie to avoid tangles. Only comb dry lashes.

If you feel that a lash is falling off and needs to be removed DO NOT PULL IT!! this will damage the cuticle of the natural lash. Either wait for it to shed with your eyelash growth cycle or see a lash technician to have it removed

Before Tanning

Exfoliate and moisturize 24 hours before your treatment, paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles, and problem-dry areas.

Paint nails and toenails, especially if artificial.

Wax/shave at least 48 hours prior to treatment. This allows the pores time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to.

The entire 24 hours before your treatment avoid using bar soaps, high-pH shower products, or in-shower moisturizers

Please don’t apply moisturizer, perfume, deodorant, or makeup on the day of your treatment, only barrier cream on specified areas given by the technician.

Post Tan

Wear dark loose clothing. Tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. Wear flip-flops or loose-fitting shoes.

Shower lightly in cold – lukewarm water for 45 seconds ONLY after the first hour for a light to medium tan.

Wax/shave at least 48 hours prior to treatment. This allows the pores time to close. Dotting in pores may appear if not adhered to.

Use plain water, don’t use shower gels, scrubs, shampoos, or loofah during the first 24 hours after your treatment.

Pat dry and moisturize after your first shower to extend the life of your tan and stay looking gorgeous.

Avoid sweating. Don’t exercise or swim for the first 24 hours after your spray tan treatment.

Try not to touch your skin during development time. Any marks on your hands, therefore, are due to your hands touching the developing tan.

Moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize some more.

After day 5, exfoliate with a soft body polish on a daily basis, to help your skin absorb even more moisturizer and keep it looking and feeling gorgeous.

Long exposure to water and sweating from exercise will fade your spray tan. Your outer cells will start to soak up water which dilutes the effect of the tan. The longer you are in water the lighter your tan will get.

The liquid is cruelty and paraben free. We airbrush each client by hand to ensure a streak-free, bronze, and even color.

KEY INGREDIENTS TO LOOK FOR IN A QUALITY SPRAY TAN

A question many people ask is “Is spray tanning safe?” When you tan with Norvell, the answer is yes! Norvell spray tans are formulated with the best ingredients (https://www.norvelltanning.com/tanner/tanning-guide/number-1-rated-ingredients/) to give you the best tan.
Norvell starts by using Eco-Certified Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA. It’s the active ingredient found in most sunless tanning products, and it’s naturally derived from plants like beets or sugarcane. Norvell works with the world’s #1 supplier of DHA to ensure its purity and quality in all of our ingredients.
DHA is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (https://www.fda.gov/home) for external application to the skin.

In addition to DHA, Norvell also uses Eco-Certified Erythrulose. Erythrulose is an active ingredient that takes longer to develop its full effect, giving an extra pop of color around 24 hours after tanning. Erythrulose works in combination with DHA to help your tan last longer.

Other natural ingredients in Norvell products include Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, and Sorbitol. All of our products are paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, sulfate free, nut allergy free and 100% vegan. They’re also non-comedogenic, meaning they won’t clog your pores so all products can be used on face and body!
With Norvell, you don’t have to worry whether spray tanning is safe. Norvell only uses premium, professional ingredients, and we test all products on ourselves, and only sell what we love!
