BEFORE AFTER CARE

Before Your Treatment

Prior to your permanent cosmetic enhancement at The Permanent Makeup Studio, think about the look that you wish to achieve. As experts in the field of color analysis and makeovers, we ensure that the correct colors and styles are chosen for you, however, you are part of the decision-making process.

Permanent cosmetic enhancements normally require multiple application sessions. To achieve the best results, you will be required to return for at least one control procedure four to six weeks after the initial application.

Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become softer as the skin heals. This process can take up to 14 days.

  • Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, you are advised not to make social plans on the day of your enhancement.
  • Please wear your normal make-up to your appointment.
  • Do not take aspirin or Ibuprofen 2 days prior to and after your enhancement. -A sensitivity test will be performed unless waived upon request.
  • Do not use Retin-A skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to and after your procedure.
  • Do not work out the day of the procedure.
  • Do not tan or have a sunburned face.
  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure.
  • No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.
  • No waxing or tinting 3 days before.
  • Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

After Care for Eyelash Extensions

Do NOT get your lashes wet for at LEAST 24 hours after application. This gives the glue time to cure. After 24 hours it is okay to shower and wash your face like normal but avoid submerging your head completely under water.

Please note that activities such as hot yoga, sauna use, excessive exercise, & excessive steam can loosen the adhesive. Causing premature lash shedding.

When drying the face/eye area it is important to use patting motions. Rubbing can tug on the extensions and cause pain. Be cautious of cotton pads around the eyes, and try to use lint-free material/clothes to avoid anything getting caught in the lash adhesive.

Keep all oil-based products away from the eyes and remember that everything on your face will travel to the eye area. Oil WILL break down the adhesive and you will have premature lash extension loss.

To take care of your eyelash extensions, brush your lashes daily to prevent crisscrossing. A simple 15–20 second sweep through your lashes in the morning will put stray lashes in their place.

Aftercare for Brows

Proper care following the procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of color is to be expected. This is the purpose of the retouch appointment.

It takes about 7-10 days for the brows to finish the skin turnover process of flaking up. On the day of your appointment, you will be slightly red and swollen. On day 2 the brows will be a shade or two darker than the pigment we selected as the pigment oxidizes when exposed to oxygen. Days 3-7 the brows continue to darken and will flake up and you will have very small scabs. Once all the scabs are gone ( usually around 8 days out ) the brows will be lighter in color and softer.

Aftercare for Lip Blushing

Immediately following the procedure, lips will feel dry, chapped, tight, and tender to the touch. They may appear swollen and bright in color. No kissing, rubbing, or friction in the treatment area

After 4 hours, start applying ointment (Aquaphor) as needed to keep lips constantly moist

Days 2-3

Apply ointment on lips several times a day. Keep lips moist at all times. Avoid oily, spicy, and heavily seasoned food and drink with a straw. After every meal gently rinses and clean lips with water and pat dry, then re-apply ointment.

DAY 4-7

Between these days, lips will begin and end the process of peeling, and color will lighten by 30%-50%. Do not pick or rub your lips and let the peeling happen naturally. Continue keeping your lips moist!

WEEK 2

The lips are done peeling, color is light. You may return to normal routines. Lips will continue to heal, for up to 6 weeks. Every week more color will surface, it is important to continue keeping lips moist to get the best color at the end of the healing phase.

**The following must be avoided during all 14 days post-treatment:

  • Increased sweating
  • Practicing sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • Exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area
  • Touching of the treatment area except for when applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the treatment area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as may lead to slow healing of wounds
